Silica Gel – Material Characteristics
Silica gel is a hygroscopic raw material with a high adsorption capacity, widely used across various industrial sectors. It is derived from silicon dioxide (SiO₂), a compound with a porous structure and a large active surface area, which enables it to capture water vapor molecules from the surrounding environment effectively.

Silica Gel – Effective Moisture Protection
Silica gel orange is a desiccant material that protects products against moisture, caking, corrosion, and the growth of mold and microorganisms. Acting as a passive yet essential safeguard, silica gel helps maintain the integrity of products that are sensitive to changes in their physical or chemical properties caused by humidity.
It is used as a filling material in small air dehumidifiers, capsules, moisture absorbers, and controlled adsorption inserts.

Why Orange? Silica Gel with Moisture Indicator
Silica gel orange contains a safe moisture indicator that allows for simple and immediate control of the material’s saturation level. In its dry state, the granules are bright orange, gradually turning green as they absorb moisture. This practical solution makes it easy to assess performance without the need for additional measuring tools.
Silica gel orange is suitable for use in pharmaceutical, food-related, and other environments that require special care and safety standards.
The orange desiccant can be reactivated through thermal treatment, making it a reusable silica gel solution for long-term applications. Although regenerating silica gel restores its drying capacity, the color indicator may gradually fade with repeated use.
At Centro-chem, we offer silica gel orange in bulk as uniform granules, with standard particle sizes ranging from 2–5 mm to 4–8 mm.

Which Industries Use Silica Gel Orange?
- Pharmaceutical Industry: Silica gel is used as a protective component for capsules, tablets, and powders, preventing moisture-induced degradation. It is commonly placed inside individual packaging in the form of small sachets or integrated directly into closures, such as bottle caps with built-in desiccant inserts.
- Electronics Industry: Silica gel orange is used in the packaging of electronic components, semiconductors, PCBs, and sensors to prevent moisture condensation. It protects sensitive devices and parts from corrosion and moisture-related damage.
- Electronics and Logistics Industries: Silica gel orange is also used in bulk packaging—particularly during long-distance transportation by sea or air. Its color indicator allows real-time monitoring of humidity conditions and helps quickly determine whether moisture has penetrated the packaging.
